The work here consisted of modern methods coupled with restoration on 17th century buildings and historic façades, specialized building and restoration techniques, which involved the use of traditional materials for mortaring and finishing the stonework. This was carried out in the traditional way.
The construction of Forni Shopping Complex took almost a year. Forni’s design is contemporary but fused with the old. The end result is so impressive that Valletta Cruise Port was awarded an Europa Nostra Award for this project. AX Holdings built the cruise and ferry terminal; an inconspicuous but highly functional building which again links the old and new structures harmoniously. Restoration work on the Pinto Wharf façade was carried out meticulously and professionally.
