Celebrating Generations of Excellence and 50 Years of Commitment, Quality and Growth.

Mr Angelo Xuereb, Chairman and Founder of AX Group, has been honoured with the Company of the Year Award during the Annual Malta Stock Exchange (MSE) Awards Dinner. The recognition comes during AX Group’s 50th anniversary year, marking an important moment in the Group’s history and celebrating its long-standing commitment to responsible, family-led growth.

In his address, Mr Xuereb expressed his appreciation to the Malta Stock Exchange, noting the special significance of receiving this award in such a milestone year.
“Being recognised by the Malta Stock Exchange, during our 50th anniversary year, carries special significance for us,” he said. “What began as a vision, born of humble beginnings, has grown into a legacy, one guided by the same principles that have long defined the Malta Stock Exchange.”

Mr Xuereb highlighted AX Group’s longstanding relationship with the Malta Stock Exchange, recalling the pivotal moment in 1997 when the Suncrest Hotel became the first hospitality company to list on the Exchange. This early step reflected the Group’s strong belief in transparency and good governance, values that continued with the subsequent listing of AX Group and AX Real Estate. He noted that the Group’s approach has consistently earned public trust: “Every time we have approached the market, the public has responded with confidence. That trust is the result of 50 years of consistency, of valuing quality over quantity, and of standing behind what we promise.”

The award also reflects AX Group’s thoughtful approach to family business succession. Mr Xuereb spoke of the importance of striking the right balance between encouraging new ideas and keeping sight of the principles that built the Group, noting that this balance “keeps us united and moving in the same direction.” Today, his daughters Claire Xuereb, Director for Hospitality and Care, and Denise Xuereb, Director for Construction and CEO of Real Estate, hold senior leadership roles, each “leading with conviction and purpose” and representing the Group’s future. He also acknowledged the contribution of Group CEO Michael Warrington, whose “leadership and perspective have helped us evolve whilst ensuring that governance at AX Group is not only strong on paper but lived every day.”

From its beginnings in construction, AX Group has grown into a diversified organisation active in hospitality, construction, development, care, wellness, and property investment. Its portfolio includes nationally significant projects such as the Valletta Cruise Port and Waterfront, AX ODYCY in Qawra, The Palace and The Victoria in Sliema, Rosselli and The Saint John in Valletta, Hilltop Retirement Village, Simblija Care Home, the Verdala Terraces and Verdala Wellness Hotel in Rabat.

Throughout all sectors, AX Group remains committed to doing things properly prioritising long-term value, quality, and responsible development. With a workforce of more than 1,300 people, AX Group continues to contribute meaningfully to Malta’s economic and social landscape.

“As we mark our 50th anniversary, this award is a fitting conclusion to a defining year for AX Group,” Mr Xuereb concluded. “It recognises not only a successful business, but a family that has remained constant in its values and consistent in its vision.”
