AX Group is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Kenneth Abela as Chief Executive Officer-Designate. Mr. Abela brings a wealth of expertise in finance, operational leadership, and strategic management, with a background that spans multiple sectors, particularly within the hospitality and retail sectors. This strategic move aligns with the Group’s vision for future growth and leadership continuity.
Mr. Michael Warrington, Chief Executive Officer of AX Group for the past 8 years, will retain his role during 2025 to ensure a smooth leadership transition. Commenting on Mr Abela’s appointment, Mr. Warrington said, “We are delighted to welcome Kenneth to AX Group. His proven expertise in driving sustainable growth and managing high-performing teams aligns well with our vision for the future. I am confident that Kenneth’s leadership will strengthen AX Group as we move forward, and I look forward to working alongside him during this important transition.” The Board has also appointed Mr. Warrington as Deputy Chairman of AX Group with effect from 1st December 2024.

A University of Malta Accountancy graduate and Fellow of the Malta Institute of Accountants, Mr. Abela has held senior roles in major organisations, where he drove growth, efficiency, and operational excellence. His tenure includes leading his team in a successful IPO and overseeing key corporate restructurings and financial strategies on publicly listed entities, which positioned him as a trusted figure in financial and strategic oversight. Known for his integrity and forward-thinking approach, Mr. Abela is well-prepared to lead AX Group into its next chapter, championing innovation and long-term value creation.
