With over twenty-five years in the hospitality industry and fifteen years at AX, Mr. Vella exemplifies dedication and expertise in his role as the General Manager of AX Hotels in Qawra. His commitment to building a diverse and successful team is evident through his recognition of the unique strengths each member brings and his promotion of personal growth within the company.

Under Mr. Vella’s leadership, the Sunny Coast Resort and Spa, AX Odycy Hotel, and the numerous Food & Beverage outlets in Qawra are meticulously tailored to cater to the diverse needs of both local and international guests. He achieves this by continuously developing and implementing new concepts to meet and exceed customer expectations.

Kevin Callus has played an integral role at AX Hotels for over 20 years. He began his journey at AX The Victoria, where he gained a wealth of first-hand experience working within all facets of the hotel business. Rising through the ranks, he was appointed General Manager of the 5-star AX The Palace in 2012 and has helped the hotel go from strength to strength.

2020 saw Kevin’s responsibilities expand yet again as he took over as General Manager of AX Hotels’ Valletta properties, which include the 5-star Rosselli–AX Privilege and Under Grain, a fine dining restaurant which Kevin helped steer to Michelin star success. At present, Kevin is also a MHRA Council Member.

Elaine Vella graduated with a Master of Business Administration Degree from the University of Malta and has several years’ experience in the construction industry. Elaine joined AX Construction in 2017, in the role of Commercial Manager. Her main responsibilities include seeing major projects through, from preparing proposals and tender documentation, negotiating with clients, up to the signing of contracts. She also manages the professional relationship with all stakeholders involved.

At the beginning of 2022, Elaine has also taken up the responsibility of AX Development Contracts Department, where she handles all contracts related to internal projects such as The Verdala Complex Project, Palazzo Lucia and the AX Odycy.

Having joined AX Group in 1987, Caroline Schembri is one of the company’s longest-serving and most valued members of staff. She initially joined AX Group as an Administration Assistant and has steadily gained a wealth of experience within all facets of the business, becoming a reliable point of reference in Head Office for all staff.

Among her core duties, Caroline continues to play a pivotal role in assisting our Chairman and helping the business in its day-to-day operations. In 2022, Caroline was promoted to Head of Administration.
