AX Foundation continues its mission to support students who require additional assistance with an exciting new community initiative. Collaborating with San Andrea School, the Foundation is creating essential new facilities designed to provide crucial support for young students, addressing needs ranging from emotional challenges to educational gaps. The project, which includes the development of a Nurture Room, Therapy Rooms, and Support Rooms, is fully funded by AX Foundation and is expected to be completed prior to the start of the scholastic year. Timeframes were strategically set to minimise any disruption to school life, ensuring students return to a refreshed and supportive learning environment in the new scholastic year.

“We’re proud to be supporting San Andrea School with this initiative, which aligns perfectly with our commitment to improving educational environments and ensuring every child has the support they need to thrive. After meeting with School Heads Ms Lara Muscat and Mr Ryan Portelli, we immediately recognised this project as a worthy cause and are excited to see the impact it will have in fostering a more inclusive school environment for all students,” shares Ms. Claire Zammit Xuereb, Chairperson of AX Foundation.

The new facilities are set to address a range of special educational needs within the school. This includes assisting students on the autism spectrum, children with ADHD, those struggling with mental health issues, and others facing challenges such as anxiety, low self-esteem, and difficulties in class.

The rooms are specially designed to create safe, quiet spaces within the school where students can feel secure and receive tailored support to develop their individual needs further. Key features of the project include expanding existing rooms, adding a small kitchen for independent living skills, and introducing calming areas with bean bags, sofas, and ceiling curtains. The rooms will also have dividers, soothing colours, and a library stocked with books and toys to aid in emotional literacy, regulation, and creativity. This thoughtful, holistic design ensures that each student’s needs are met in a supportive, nurturing environment.

The management at Early and Middle School at San Andrea extend their heartfelt thanks to Ms Zammit Xuereb and the entire AX Foundation board for their support. “Once completed, these rooms will allow us to conduct both one-on-one and group sessions, supervised by experts in their field, to address our students’ psycho-emotional and social needs. This will greatly enhance our ability to support and guide our young learners, equipping them with essential skills to enter adulthood with greater confidence and resilience”
